Have been involved in the real estate business for over 34 years,
Gwen James is presently co-owner and President of Coldwell Banker
Don Nace, Inc.
She is currently serving as President for the Mississippi
Association of Realtors having served as Chair of the Professional
Standards Committee, State Forms Committee, a MARPAC Trustee and
chaired the Legislative Committee for MAR in 2007. She is on the
Local and State Issues Committee and Housing Needs Committee for the
National Association of Realtors as well as NAR’s Board of
Directors.
Among
her achievements, Gwen was selected “Small Business Leader of the
Year” by William Carey University in 1994. She was also chosen as
one of Mississippi’s 50 Leading Business Women in 1997, plus
“Executive of the Year “by the Hattiesburg Chapter of Sales and
Marketing Executives that same year. In 2001 she was named Woman of
Achievement for Hattiesburg. Gwen was honored by the Hattiesburg
Rotary Club as the recipient of The Paul Harris Non-Rotarian of the
Year for 2002.
In additional to her business ventures, Gwen has supported South
Mississippi as a charter Director of Hattiesburg Habitat for
Humanity, Past Chair of the Family Y, former Trustee for William
Carey University, Director with the Mississippi Economic Council and
has served as Chair of the Planning Commission for the City of
Hattiesburg.
In 1998 promoted The Greater Hattiesburg Area as Chair of the Area
Development Partnership. She is presently serving as Trustee for the
Foundation of First Baptist Church and the Foundation of the ADP.
She is Past President of the Greater Hattiesburg Foundation and of
the United Way.
Her
involvement with the ADP has spanned a number of years and various
positions. She organized the implementation of the retirement
recruitment effort which has brought more than 1100 households to
the Hattiesburg Area. She and her late husband Bob received the
Volunteer of the Year Award from the State of Mississippi Economic
and Community Development for their Retiree Recruitment efforts in
1996.
